Google is searched nearly 12 billion times a month by 1.2 billion unique searchers. Regardless of our desires, students are much more likely to search Google than a database. As educators we must ask how can we shape this behavior? In this presentation, we will talk about how students could search Google more effectively by learning the fundamentals of searching. This deeper understanding of process will help ease the transition from Google to more academic sources. We will also discuss examples of lesson plans and how this could be incorporated into your lesson.
Are you tired of fighting the cell phone battle in class? With QR Codes you can make learning mobile and use cell phones and other devices to enhance your class. Download or open the QR Reader on your device and check out this QR Code for some ideas.

We will discuss the merits of Test Manager vs. CPS in the collection of data and “giving tests”, especially in the standards era. We will then set up a class in the gradebook, set up a test to be given using responders, set up a hybrid test (responders and graded essays.) We will also take a LAN test with sound – earbuds/headsets would be useful.

Who are these students who occupy space in the classroom? Some days it seems as though they come from another universe. How do educators motivate middle and high school students? How can they engage students in their own learning? Teachers need to get to know their students, learn a little about how their brain works, and examine their pedagogy in order to get the most out of the instructional time together in the classroom and beyond. Join this interactive session to help you effectively reach and teach students in the secondary classroom.
Spend time working with your colleagues exploring your eBooks and online teacher resources. Collaborate on how to utilize these resources to engage your students! Bring your own resources for this work session.
